Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Marketing Communications and CMO, the Marketing Communications Manager works as part of the two-person team responsible for content management of a wide range of business development and promotional communications, serving as project manager of all communications initiatives. Areas of focus include:
- RFP/RFQ/RFI Responses and Custom Pitches
- Narrative Award Nominations and League Tables (e.g., Chambers, Benchmark Litigation)
- Article Placement and Public Relations
- Newsletters, Client Alerts, and Blogs
- Website
- Social Media
For these and any other marketing communications initiatives, responsibilities include, to varying degrees depending on the project
- Development and maintenance of annual submissions calendars
- Maintenance, expansion, and regular updating of database of media contacts, editorial calendars, submission guidelines, etc.
- Development of first drafts of custom content
- Compilation of existing or attorney-provided content
- First-round editing
- Article and news pitches
- Website updates
- Management of all administrative activities throughout project execution, including:
- Process development
- Coordination with attorneys
- Project milestones and deadlines
- Approvals
- Submission
- Tracking (including results) and analysis
- Cataloguing of content, maintenance of archives, and development of monthly media roundups
- Oversight of department coordinator and assistant on production
- Coordination with retained creative agency
- Where appropriate, sharing of content on website and social media, securing of reprints
In addition to serving as project manager for all marketing communications initiatives, both discrete and long-term, the Marketing Communications Manager leads all social media activities, from daily posts to special series – e.g., Black History Month – to tracking and analysis.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or similar
- 6-10 years of experience, with law firm experience strongly preferred
- Excellent writing and communications skills
- Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate easily with attorneys and fellow Department members
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools; WordPress and Canva experience appreciated but not required
